Tottenham will have to pay more than €30 million to capture Brazilian star Neymar.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Benfica defender Morato.

The north London club is apparently interested in the 22-year-old central defender, but they will have to pay a high fee to obtain his services. The defender’s deal includes a €100 million release clause, and he is unlikely to be cheap.

Benfica has reportedly rejected proposals from Premier League clubs worth approximately €30 million (h/t SportWitness), implying that Spurs will have to spend more to secure the midfielder.

The Brazilian is well-regarded throughout Europe, and he has a bright future ahead of him. He might be a valuable long-term acquisition to Tottenham.

Eric Dier has been linked with a transfer away from Tottenham in January, and the club will need to find a suitable replacement. When the transfer window reopens, they should make signing a central defender a primary priority, and the Brazilian appears to be the ideal candidate.

Morato has impressed for Benfica, and he has the ability to do well in the Premier League as well. A move to Tottenham would be an exciting step up in his career, and the player may be interested in playing for Tottenham. It remains to be seen whether Benfica will be willing to negotiate a fair price for the defender in the coming weeks.

Because no team is anticipated to pay €100 million for the defender, Benfica will have to accept a fee less than his release clause.
