Two Houston Astros players have been named All-MLB.
Major League Baseball has recognized two of the Houston Astros’ top hitters for the 2023 season.

Two Houston Astros were chosen All-MLB on Saturday night in Las Vegas during the league’s annual awards show.

Outfielder Kyle Tucker and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez were both named to the All-MLB Second Team.

 

Tucker received his first Silver Slugger after slashing in 2023.With 29 home runs, 112 RBI, and 30 stolen bases, he hit 284/.369/.517/.886. His 112 RBI set an American League record.

He is currently a two-time All-Star, a Gold Glove winner in 2022, and has finished in the Top 20 in MVP voting in each of the last two seasons.

Tucker was also selected the Houston branch of the Baseball Writers Association of America’s Most Valuable Player.

Alvarez missed nearly a month of the season due to injury, but he still had a productive offensive season.

He hit.293/.407/.583/.990 with 31 home runs and 97 RBI in his second All-Star Game appearance and finished 13th in MVP votes.

The First Team

Starting pitchers include Gerrit Cole of the New York Yankees, Zac Gallen of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Blake Snell of the San Diego Padres, Spencer Strider of the Atlanta Braves, and Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels.

Relief pitchers: San Diego’s Josh Hader and Baltimore’s Félix Bautista.

Baltimore’s catcher is Adley Rutschman.

First baseman Freddie Freeman of the Los Angeles Dodgers; second baseman Marcus Semien of the Texas Rangers; shortstop Corey Seager of the Texas Rangers; and third baseman Austin Riley of the Atlanta Braves.

Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks, Mookie Betts of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Ronald Acua Jr. of the Atlanta Braves play in the outfield.

Milwaukee’s Devin Williams and Cleveland’s Emmanuel Clase are the relievers.

Jonah Heim of Texas is the catcher.

Atlanta’s Matt Olson at first base; Atlanta’s Ozzie Albies at second base; New York Mets’ Francisco Lindor at shortstop; and Cleveland’s José Ramrez at third base.

Outfielders: Aaron Judge (New York Yankees), Adolis Garcia (Texas), and Kyle Tucker (Houston Astros).

Houston’s designated hitter is Yordan Alvarez.
