Leeds United’s interest in Liverpool’s star has been hinted at, as Chris Sutton forecasts a difficult FA Cup tie against Peterborough.

The latest Leeds United news as Daniel Farke’s men prepare to begin their FA Cup campaign.

Leeds United begin their FA Cup campaign against Peterborough United in the third round on Sunday. Daniel Farke’s team entered 2024 on the back of three straight defeats, but will want to build on last weekend’s emphatic 3-0 win over Birmingham City to maintain their promotion challenge.

The Whites are anticipated to be active in the transfer market following the surprising decision to cancel Djed Spence’s loan stay and return him to Tottenham. Farke will be hoping for a positive start to the year both on and off the field, and in the meantime, we have compiled a list of the most recent headlines from Elland Road.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Leeds is one of the Championship clubs that have inquired about loaning Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho.

Due to a lack of playing time, Carvalho was recalled from his loan term at RB Leipzig. The 21-year-old is likely to find a new temporary home over the next six months, with regular football being a priority for both him and his parent club.

Wolves are thought to be interested in Carvalho, but Romano reports that the ‘top 6 Championship clubs’ have also placed their names in the hat. It is now up to Liverpool and the Portuguese midfielder to decide which option is better for the future.

Predictions for the FA Cup
Former striker Chris Sutton believes Leeds will win their FA Cup encounter against Peterborough tomorrow, but warns that the hosts will ‘have a genuine try’.

Leeds have a history of embarrassing themselves in the cup, and Farke is no exception, having lost on penalties to League Two Salford City in the Carabao Cup’s second round in August.

Peterborough are presently third in League One, and Sutton believes a trip to the ABAX Stadium will be difficult for the Whites, though they will prevail.

“Former Norwich boss Daniel Farke is having a great time with Leeds, who are flying at the moment,” he told BBC Sport. Peterborough has some great prospects young players and they will have a real go at home, but Leeds have the quality to get past them. Prediction: Peterborough 2-3 Leeds.“
