Seattle Seahawks make bold predictions for Week 18 against the Arizona Cardinals.
To secure a postseason spot, the Seahawks must defeat the Cardinals and receive assistance.
Prior to their Week 17 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Seattle Seahawks were in command of their playoff hopes. The Steelers, on the other hand, used their own potent ground game to gain control of the game, and they punished the Seahawks with a 30-23 loss. The Seahawks now require assistance to make the playoffs, and they must also defeat the Arizona Cardinals on the road in Week 18.
If the Seahawks are to enter the playoffs, the Chicago Bears must assist them when they travel to Green Bay to face the Packers. The Seahawks should be able to take advantage of the Cardinals, while the Packers have consistently beaten the Bears. Green Bay has held a considerable advantage versus Chicago since 1993, including a 38-20 victory in Week 1.
The Seahawks will obviously have no control on the Bears-Packers game, but they have weapons that can cause significant damage to the Arizona defense. While the Seahawks were plainly saddened in their defeat to the Steelers, head coach Pete Carroll has demonstrated his ability to motivate his squad when a huge effort is required.
He’ll need to use that quality to get his club ready for this game.
The Seahawks and Cardinals meet for the second time this season, with the Seahawks winning 20-10 in Week 7. Geno Smith was relatively sharp in that game, completing 18 of 24 throws for 219 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. His touchdown passes were completed to rookies Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Jake Bobo.
In order to beat the Cardinals, Smith will likely deploy all of his receiving weapons, as well as running backs Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.
Geno Smith will throw for over 250 yards and two touchdowns.
Last year, Smith established himself as a starting quarterback, and Carroll has not lost faith in him this season.
While his overall numbers aren’t as stunning as they were in 2022, Smith knows how to control a game and keep calm when the game is on the line. This season, he has completed 307 of 471 passes for 3,435 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions.
Smith can distribute the ball to any of his top three receivers. D.K. Metcalf is a big man who can make big plays in big situations. Metcalf has 65 receptions for 1,104 yards and 8 touchdowns this season. He has the ability to get significant yardage after the catch, and if the Cardinals do not wrap him up, he will not go down.
