After a humiliating loss to the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles received devastating injury news.
It wasn’t long ago that the Philadelphia Eagles were 10-1 and widely regarded as the best team in the NFL. But everything has come falling down.
The squad has now lost five of its last six games, falling behind the Cowboys in the NFC East race and being humiliated by the lowly Giants in a game they were trying to win for much of it, 27-10, on Sunday. They’ve just gotten devastating injury news at a time when they can’t afford it.
Rookie safety Sydney Brown had come on strong at the close of the regular season, but he will miss the entire postseason after tearing his ACL in the Giants’ Week 18 loss.
The Philadelphia Eagles have been severely undermanned at safety all season, and it has been a major vulnerability for the team. They attempted to remedy that by bringing in veteran Kevin Byard. However, this has not resolved many of the back-end concerns.
Brown had been playing significantly better, with PFF grades of over 66 in three of his previous five games entering Sunday. In an Eagles loss to the Cardinals last weekend, he produced an outstanding pick-six.
They’ll be without him now as they try to staunch the hemorrhage that has taken them from 10-1 to 11-6 and into the Wild Card Round. They will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night in Tampa.
