West Ham United Are Monitoring This Leeds United Winger: Should Moyes Go For Him?
According to a recent report by journalist Dean Jones, West Ham United are keeping an eye on Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto. It has been reported that the Hammers are interested in signing the Italian wide man.
Based on his EFL Championship averages of 0.9 shots, 0.3 critical passes, and 1.0 dribbles per 90 minutes, the Italian prospect has caught the eye at times on the offensive end of the play. After completing 86.7% of his attempted passes in the English second tier (data from whoscored), he has been cautious when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half.
Gnonto’s contract at Elland Road is set to expire in the summer of 2027. As a result, signing him on the cheap this winter will be difficult for the Hammers.
Gnonto can dribble with the ball at his feet and make a couple driving runs out in the open spaces. In the final third, he can generate strange chances for his teammates and shoot the ball with strength from long range.
The Italian winger is primarily a left-sided wide player, although he can also play on the right wing or in the number ten position if his manager instructs him to do so. He would give West Ham manager David Moyes’ attack additional pace and potency.
Gnonto, 20, has a bright future ahead of him and would be a wonderful long-term acquisition for the Hammers. He is already good enough to contend for a starting spot in Moyes’ first team and could help the London club compete on all fronts in the coming years.
However, adjusting to the physical demands and high intensity of Premier League football would be difficult for Gnonto unless Moyes can find a way to get a deal done for him soon. Nonetheless, West Ham should pursue the Italian winger during the January transfer window.
