Leeds United still on the hunt for “unplayable” PL ace after three goal involvements on Thursday – talkSPORT

Leeds have yet to complete a signing in the January window, with Daniel Farke expected to add to his squad before the deadline on Thursday next week.

Following earlier outgoings this month, defensive recruitment appears to be the major priority, but attacking additions may be possible if the player matches the correct profile.

Early in January, talkSPORT writer Alex Crook stated that Leeds and Southampton were interested in signing Bournemouth winger David Brooks.

The Wales international has struggled to gain playing time in the Premier League this season under manager Andoni Iraola, but he has demonstrated the quality that should earn him additional opportunities, whether at the Vitality Stadium or elsewhere.

He started Wednesday night’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Championship side Swansea City and helped them to a 5-0 victory.

His success in that five-star performance may have made it less likely that Bournemouth would wish to let him go this month, but that does not appear to be the case.

Brooks set up the first with a whipped in free-kick to Lloyd Kelly at the back post, then set up a second for Alex Scott – but he scored himself for 4-0 when Dom Solanke passed him through after a high turnover, rolling the ball into the far corner.

Solanke scored five goals and displayed a heartfelt tribute to Jaidon Anthony’s late mother on his undershirt.

Crook stated post-match that Bournemouth may still let Brooks depart for Leeds, as Iraola couldn’t commit to staying:

His performance against Swansea, which included two assists and a goal, demonstrates why he’d be an ideal fit for Leeds.

He can press high, make good judgments in possession when moving into the box, and, most importantly, is a left-footed winger.

Leeds need someone with a different profile than what we have, and Brooks is a pass-first winger, whilst many of ours are good at carrying the ball through pressure.
