Hull City transfer news: Loanee heads back home to prepare for permanent move as Tigers aim to beat Leeds United to replacement

The news was expected, therefore the Tigers have been looking for a replacement, with former Rotherham United and Middlesbrough loanee Ryan Giles at the top of their list.

Vinagre arrived on loan in the summer with a buy option reported to be around £13 million, but the move has not gone as planned.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton player, as well as a Portuguese under-21 international, made only six Championship starts for Hull and two substitute appearances after October due to injuries that hampered his progress.

He is currently scheduled to join Hellas Verona. Italian clubs have until 8 p.m. UK time on Thursday, three hours less than their English counterparts, to complete their remaining transfer business for the season.

Giles is Hull’s top left-back target, although he is also understood to be on the radar of Leeds United and Cardiff City.

Giles only joined Luton in the summer, but he, too, has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, going on as a substitute more than he has started.

However, the 23-year-old demonstrated his capabilities at Middlesbrough last season and is well-regarded in Championship circles.
