Arsenal make major Mikel Arteta decision after Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool exit announcement
Arsenal has taken a significant choice about manager Mikel Arteta’s future following Liverpool’s revelation that Jurgen Klopp will leave the club after nine years. The news of his departure surfaced on Friday morning, prompting Premier League managers Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino, and Ange Postecoglou to comment.
“I love absolutely everything about this club, the city, our supporters, the team, and the staff,” Klopp stated in an emotional interview with the club’s website. “I love everything. However, the fact that I am still making this decision demonstrates that I am confident it is the right one.
“It is that I am, how shall I put it, running out of energy. I have no trouble now; obviously, I have known for a long time that I would have to declare it at some point, but I am completely OK right now. I am aware that I will be unable to complete the task repeatedly.
The Reds are now looking for a new manager. Former footballer Xabi Alonso is the favourite to take command, considering his success in his first senior position at Bayer Leverkusen, the German team at the top of the Bundesliga.
However, Liverpool is considering hiring a Premier League manager to succeed Klopp, with Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi the most obvious contender. New Spurs manager Postecoglou and even Luton Town manager Rob Edwards have been mentioned as potential replacements, but it does not appear that Arsenal will have to worry about losing Arteta anytime soon.
According to the X [previously Twitter] account @GeoffArsenal, Arteta is set to sign a new deal at Emirates Stadium, with an announcement anticipated soon. The Arsenal manager’s current contract expires in 2025, after signing an extension 18 months ago.
