Inside the Ampadu, James and Rodon Leeds United talks behind Roberts loan

Daniel Farke believes Wales’ takeover of Leeds United’s dressing room is purely coincidental. The Whites’ manager is attempting to build a core group of the appropriate characters, and Wales has proven to be fairly excellent at developing those qualities.

On Thursday, Connor Roberts joined Farke’s team on loan until the end of the season, bringing the total to four Wales internationals. While the other three were questioned about Roberts’ personality, Farke claims that is where the Welsh connection begins and ends.

“I don’t believe in passports in football,” he said. “I also like the identification with a club. It’s not about passports, it’s all about characters.

We are all human beings, and it is only vital that a player’s character fits into a club. It’s a coincidence that we have so many Welsh players, but it has to do with their mentality and the quality of the Welsh players we’ve signed.

“Daniel James was present even before I joined. I was always convinced of Daniel James and his character. I brought in Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon because I was confident in both their abilities and personalities.

It’s the same for Connor Roberts. It helps a little when a few boys are around and you ask them questions about his personality or character, and you get perfect feedback firsthand from individuals you trust.

“I also spoke privately with our Welsh players about him, and the reply was quite positive, but it is a coincidence. It’s not like we want to establish a Welsh core group within our club.
