Leeds United urgently need to strengthen their midfield before tomorrow’s deadline.

The Whites have lost Marc Roca, Brenden Aaronson, and, most critically, Tyler Adams. They require reinforcements as quickly as possible and are thought to be in negotiations with several names. Ilia Gruev of Werder Bremen is one of them, and reports surfaced yesterday that Leeds had made an offer to sign him. Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg then stated that talks were advanced and that the player wanted to move to Elland Road.

According to BILD, Bremen allowed Gruev to leave training yesterday in order to conclude his departure from the Weser Stadium before the deadline of tomorrow. Things are looking well for Leeds right now.

Ilia Gruev would be an excellent addition for Leeds.

The 23-year-old is a natural defensive midfielder, and he excels in that role. However, he can also play centre-back if necessary.

If they can close this deal, Daniel Farke will have lots of alternatives this season.

It will be interesting to watch how the following several hours play out, but we believe Leeds will be able to complete this without any difficulty.
