Our staff makes its predictions for Sunday’s Super Bowl LVIII game between Chiefs and 49ers

The NFL season concludes Sunday when the Kansas City Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Our staff discusses how they see Super Bowl LVIII playing out.
49ers 24, Chiefs 19: I was just told that I projected the same score as Zach Ewing, therefore we’re screwed. However, I cannot change now! I’ve thought the 49ers were the greatest team in the NFL since early October, and I’m sticking with it. I believe the diversions for God, I mean Patrick Mahomes, could be an issue. (Joe Thuney’s absence from the game will also be detrimental.) Also, bet a few bucks on Deebo Samuel to win MVP (+2000).
49ers 27, Chiefs 20: This is the 49ers’ year. They’ve been the greatest team in the league for much of the season, and I anticipate them to take it to the next level on Sunday following the scare in the NFC championship game. Expect them to establish an early lead and control both lines of scrimmage. Kyle Shanahan finally receives his Super Bowl ring, sending Andy Reid into retirement after a 2-3 career record in Super Bowls.
49ers 24, Chiefs 19: Picking against Patrick Mahomes is risky, but even during the playoffs, this isn’t the same offence as previous Kansas City championship teams. Meanwhile, the San Francisco defence is better than it has been in the playoffs, and the Niners offence can score against anyone. MVP? Choose Deebo Samuel, for whom Kyle Shanahan will find inventive ways to obtain the ball.

49ers 30, Chiefs 28: This one appears to have all the makings of an instant classic. Both the 49ers and the Chiefs play an entertaining kind of game, both teams have superstars, and probably the two best head coaches in the NFL will be on the sidelines. The 49ers have the advantage due to their dizzying array of offensive talent in what could be an interesting contest.
