Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen celebrate a goal for West Ham.
West Ham’s uniform includes claret shirts with blue sleeves, white shorts and claret socks. West Ham’s colours are identical to those of Aston Villa because, in 1899, Bill Dove, the father of a West Ham United player, attended a fair in Birmingham. Bill Dove was a professional sprinter, and four Aston Villa players challenged him to a race. The Aston Villa players wagered that they could beat Bill Dove, but they all lost and did not have enough money to pay. Instead of payment, the Aston Villa players gifted Bill Dove the entire team’s football kits, which he presented to his son.
West Ham have spent 25 seasons in the Premier League, been relegated twice (2002-03 and 2010-11) and promoted three times (in 1993, 2005, and 2012). West Ham’s greatest Premier League result was fifth in 1998-1999, but they did finish third in 1985-86, their best ever in the top tier. West Ham have won four major trophies in their history: the FA Cup in 1964, 1975 and 1980, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965, defeating 1860 Munich in the final. That winning team comprised Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst, and Martin Peters, who would also win the World Championship.
I am a genuine Hammer!!! Claret and blue throughout. I used to love Green Street and Upton Park, but now I enjoy our stadium. Love you, West Ham United! Come on, Irons xx.
