In the statement, Carr wrote: “I once said that if I wasn’t a Raider, I’d rather be at home, and I meant it, but I never imagined it would end this way.

“That fire burning inside of me to win a championship still rages. A fire no man can extinguish; only God.

“So I’m looking forward to a new city and a new squad that, regardless of the circumstances, will take everything I’ve got. Winning a title is something I’ve always wanted and will continue to work for.”
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported earlier on Thursday that the Raiders have began the process of evaluating Carr’s trade market, thus ending his time with the team.
Carr signed a three-year, $121.5 million contract extension with Las Vegas in the offseason, but the agreement permits the Raiders to release him within three days of the Super Bowl for a salary-cap penalty of only $5.625 million if they can’t find a trading partner.
The contract deal appeared to pair Carr with new Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels for the foreseeable future, while the acquisition of his former Fresno State college teammate Davante Adams from the Green Bay Packers had some predicting the Raiders will make ripples in 2022.

Instead, Carr was benched for the final two games of the season, both losses as they finished 6-11, with the 31-year-old stepping away from the squad to avoid being a ‘distraction’.
This breaks my heart. Carr’s statement stated, “I didn’t get to say goodbye in person.” “In our nine years together, we’ve been on a roller coaster.

“I am deeply grateful and appreciative of the years of help you have provided to my family and me.

“We had our fair share of heartbreaking moments and amazing game-winning drives, and it always felt like you were right next to me.

It’s extremely difficult to say goodbye because I can honestly say that I gave you everything I had every day, in season and off season. It wasn’t flawless, but I hope I was able to leave you with more than a few fond memories as Raider fans.”

Carr was drafted in the second round by the Raiders in 2014 and has thrown 35,222 yards, 217 touchdowns, and 99 interceptions in 142 games.

He appeared in his sole postseason game for Las Vegas in 2021, losing in the wild card round to the Cincinnati Bengals, who later advanced to the Super Bowl before losing to the Los Angeles Rams.
