Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins fires sharp seven-word message after huge Fulham win

Ollie Watkins sent a bold message after guiding Aston Villa to victory over Fulham.

The England striker’s brace up his total to 13 league goals this season. Watkins, 28, opened the scoring with a brilliant turn and finish before blasting past Bernd Leno in the second half after a well-worked Villa move.

Watkins’ goals propelled Villa to a crucial victory that saw the team restore their place in the top four, overcoming a dip in form and the loss of important players to injury. The forward’s brace at Craven Cottage made it four in as many league games, and he has subsequently reacted to the victory on social media.

The Villa striker may have believed that fortune would not be on his side after having a goal called out for offside within two minutes. Watkins, on the other hand, praised his match-winning performance by posting a seven-word message on Instagram with a salute emoji: “You can’t keep a good man down”.
Villa fans will be thrilled to see Watkins back on the scoresheet in recent weeks, having only scored once in seven league games before to his current hot streak. His value to Unai Emery’s club has never been questioned, as evidenced by Watkins’ battle with Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier for the lead in Premier League assists (ten).

The rest of the Villa squad was quick to voice their support for the striker, with the exception of a lighthearted dig from skipper John McGinn, who commented, “Need to be a good man first.” Leon Bailey responded with “My boy” in the comments section, while Emi Martinez and Lucas Digne used a sequence of fire emojis.

During his post-match press conference, Emery was asked if Watkins could be considered one of the league’s finest strikers, and the Villa manager responded: “Ollie was fantastic, but the best action he did was in the first half, when he retrieved the ball and created a chance for (Youri) Tielemans. He places a high value on scoring. I’m extremely happy with him. I believe he has made significant improvements. We are really thrilled for him and his goal, but even when he does not score, I am quite proud of him.”
