Key West Ham stars have not stepped up v Nottingham Forest

The former Crystal Palace striker slammed the defense for not being powerful enough after being easily turned by Awonyi, who put the home side ahead 1-0.

Morrison has stated that the Hammers’ defence is weak following their 6-0 defeat to Arsenal last week, and the Nigerian striker opened the goal with a stunning finish.

West Ham
Speaking live on Sky Sports News [February 17, 15:51] Morrison explained: “It’s Awonyi, it’s a good ball into him, and he tells Aguerd, ‘Get off me, you’re not strong enough.'” He simply rolls him, and when he’s one-on-one with Areola, he lands a left-footed shot into the bottom corner, as Forest deserves.
“West Ham’s defending has not been good enough; they conceded six goals last week and are extremely susceptible at the back. Awonyi scored a great goal, 1-0.”

Players like Aguerd need to step up in situations like this, and he hasn’t. The Algerian cost David Moyes about £30 million when he joined from Rennes in 2022, but despite his high price, this is not his first terrible performance this season.

Following a 6-0 home defeat to Arsenal, another setback for the Hammers casts further question on Moyes’ future, with pressure mounting after the offer of a new contract was postponed.
Some of the most crucial players in this club have failed to step up when the going gets tough, as the Hammers continue to lose games and show little signs of improving their form despite their superb roster.

Nottingham Forest was one of the clubs mentioned as a possible win for the Hammers considering their problems at the bottom of the standings, but another defeat without a goal may have sealed Moyes’ fate.
