Lamar Jackson ‘angry’ as Ravens’ high-powered offense misses Super Bowl

Lamar Jackson confessed he was frustrated because the offense that helped his club to the NFL’s best regular-season record failed to ignite with a Super Bowl berth on the line.

The Ravens had won Jackson’s last seven games into Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, averaging 33.9 points per game during that time. However, the offense produced only 10 points versus Kansas City and committed three turnovers, including a fumble and an interception by Jackson.

“We’re mad,” Jackson, the favorite for this season’s MVP award, said following Sunday’s 17-10 loss to the Chiefs. “Offense, we did not post anything on the board. We scored once. That is not like us. We drove the ball down the field. That is cool. But we did get to put points on the board. But I feel like my team is simply furious, not frustrated. “We understand how hard we worked to get here.”

Jackson had some good plays on Sunday, including a touchdown pass after dodging a sack by Leo Chenal. However, against a smothering Chiefs defense, he was nothing near as fluid as he had been for the majority of the season. Jackson now has a 2-4 playoff record, fueling speculation that he shrinks in the spotlight. He has eight turnovers and four touchdowns in his playoff career. However, his head coach, John Harbaugh, stated that he is unconcerned about a player who is still only 27.
“I told him to stand up tall,” Harbaugh stated. “He’s had a fantastic season, and his performance today was all heart.” He struggled; he went out there and gave everything he could. So I don’t believe that is anything I would be dissatisfied about.”

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl for the fourth time in five years, looking to become the first back-to-back champions since the 2004 New England Patriots.
