Newcastle ready to block summer move to Man Utd for Dan Ashworth – David Ornstein
According to Ornstein’s contacts with those in the know on Monday, Newcastle are focused on two things: preventing Manchester United from seeing our sporting director for the next summer move and ensuring the money is correct.
He adds that the club is determined to cut off all connection between Ashworth and Manchester United in the next months, as the 52-year-old knows a lot about our transfer intentions and strategy.
“If they can prevent Dan Ashworth from working for Man United and communicating with them during that time, perhaps things will be fine. The two elements I’ve gathered are that they want the money to be correct and that they don’t want him to work for Manchester United during the summer window.
“Beyond that, he wouldn’t be privy to the finer details of the plans, even though he has spoken in the past about how they work on multiple windows in advance so he’ll have an incline but then everyone in this industry knows what everybody else is doing.”
Newcastle are reportedly demanding a £20 million deal, although it is unclear whether INEOS executives will agree to such a charge, negotiate a lower price, or wait until his gardening leave expires in January 2026. The latter appears exceedingly doubtful, but it is evident that we will not give up easy and let one of our ‘big six’ rivals to take him on the cheap.
