Newcastle United’s team has seen significant changes since the club’s new ownership took over in 2021.

After helping Newcastle get out of relationship difficulty during his original loan spell, it appeared prudent to sign the left-back permanently. However, Targett’s opportunities have been limited by Dan Burn’s move to full-back and the following additions of Lewis Hall and Livramento, who have combined for only 183 minutes of action this season.
Tonali has been backed by Newcastle since October, when he was banned for ten months for gambling crimes. Tonali has been performing additional training sessions and using the time to enhance his English, which bodes well for the 23-year-old when he returns to the squad.
However, with Tonali ruled out for the remainder of the season after only 12 games for the club, it is tough to call his move a success thus far.
