West Ham United backed to target English manager repeatedly praised by David Moyes.

The Hammers have been in poor form to begin 2024.

West Ham has not won a single league game since the turn of the year, losing their last three.

David Moyes is now under intense pressure, especially as his contract expires at the conclusion of the season.

West Ham are already considering a number of prospective replacements for Moyes, including Julen Lopetegui, Steve Cooper, and Graham Potter.

Those three are all out of employment right now, although one active Premier League manager has been mentioned as a potential target.

Gary O’Neil joining West Ham United?

Dean Jones, a transfer insider, informed Give Me Sport that West Ham might be interested in Gary O’Neil.

Jones praised O’Neil’s efforts at Wolves as ‘excellent’, but predicts vultures will now circle Molineux.

This includes O’Neil as well as top players such as Pedro Neto, with Jones speculating that O’Neil could be a target for West Ham.
“The Wolves are currently in an unusual circumstance. At the start of the 2023/24 season, their main concern was relegation. They are presently in a fairly comfortable position, but the players that got them there will now be targeted by other Premier League sharks aiming to chew up Wolves and get them out.

“I think O’Neil has done a brilliant job so far, and it wouldn’t totally surprise me if West Ham did end up having to look back into the Premier League if that was the sort of manager that did interest them from the top flight.”

O’Neil has some history with West Ham.
O’Neil joined West Ham in 2011 and spent two and a half years in East London, making 56 appearances and scoring three goals

The 40-year-old is now gaining traction as a manager, having previously excelled at Bournemouth and Wolves.

O’Neil has also piqued the interest of West Ham manager David Moyes, whom O’Neil is tipped to succeed in East London.

Moyes lauded O’Neil for his ‘great job’ at Bournemouth, claiming that he has transformed the Cherries into a’really excellent team’.

Moyes praised O’Neil earlier this season, claiming that he had done a ‘fantastic job’ at Molineux while establishing himself as a young manager.

We’d be astonished to see O’Neil leave Wolves for West Ham right now, but we can’t blame the Hammers for being intrigued – and Moyes may even understand given his admiration..
