West Ham United want to sign Ipswich Town star Leif Davis to replace Aaron Cresswell.

On Tuesday (27 February), the broadcaster said on its website that Newcastle United has joined the battle for the 24-year-old, who has 14 assists in the Championship for the Tractor Boys this season.

It stated that the Irons are looking for a new left-back to replace Aaron Cresswell, who has slid down the pecking order at the London Stadium.

Leif Davis would bring quality to West Ham’s options.
There is little doubt that West Ham will sign a left-back during the summer transfer window, and Davis should be near the top of that list.

The Englishman has been in excellent form for Ipswich this season, averaging nearly an assist per game in their push for promotion.

The last fullback to join the Hammers from Portman Road was Cresswell, and if Davis can be anything near as successful as the 34-year-old in East London, we will have an exceptional player on our hands.

While first-choice left-back Emerson may be difficult to beat for a starting position at the London Stadium, another option is undoubtedly required.

It’s a position that’s been highlighted as a priority over the last couple of windows, but whether Davis may be the man to come in depends on whether or not the Tractor Boys go up this season.
