Newcastle United have finalised the signing of former Chelsea defender Lewis Hall, and journalist Dean Jones spoke with GIVEMESPORT about Eddie Howe’s reaction to his new signing.

His transfer to Newcastle was completed on Tuesday for a fee that could reach £35 million from Chelsea due to an obligation to buy clause, according to Sky Sports.

The Slough-born teenager is only 18 years old, so Newcastle is definitely thinking long-term with this purchase, but he had already broken into the Chelsea first team before to his move to the North East.

Hall made 12 appearances for Chelsea and played in a variety of positions throughout his brief career.

According to Transfermarkt, Hall has played as a left-back, left-midfielder, and even a centre midfielder for Chelsea’s first and youth teams.

Dan Burn has played in an unfamiliar left-back role throughout his time at St James’ Park, thus Hall could be used in this position under Howe.

Newcastle fans will have to be patient with Hall due to his age, but the kid was voted Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Season in May, demonstrating how highly regarded he was in west London.

Jones has stated that Howe is overjoyed that the Magpies have completed this transaction.

The writer adds that he has heard great things about Hall and his potential as a young player.
