David Moyes constantly moans about 1 thing, but 29-year-old West Ham problem is staring straight at him

David Moyes would have been overjoyed with West Ham United’s much-needed victory over Brentford at the London Stadium on Monday night; his job was thought to be on the line before kickoff.

The Hammers put on a spectacular attacking performance against the Bees, but there was one major concern that was painfully clear. This season, we’ve been exceedingly easy to play against thanks to some genuinely startling defensive displays. Our record of 46 goals conceded in 26 Premier League games speaks for itself.

The Scot has lamented some of his players’ laughable defence this season.

Moyes lamented his side’s inability to defend adequately following our 4-2 victory over Brentford on Monday night (WHUFC.com). Kurt Zouma, the club captain, may hold the answer for Moyes.

The 29-year-old was named club captain at the start of the season, a decision by Moyes that was perplexing at the time but now appears to be simply incompetent.

First and foremost, let me state unequivocally that Zouma is unfit to be captain. He does not provide a good example on or off the pitch.

The Frenchman did not talk to the media for two weeks as West Ham was experiencing its worst time of the season.

Finally, Zouma has concluded his Premier League career. His legs are gone, and he appears absolutely bewildered out there right now.

The former Chelsea centre-back’s body alignment has been absolutely out of whack, his passing is poor, and when he sprints, he appears to break down at any moment.

Unfortunately, this does occur at the elite level of sport. Kurt Zouma is no longer the player he once was due to multiple injuries and operations.

Hopefully, David Moyes will identify Zouma as the main cause of West Ham United’s defensive issues this season before it is too late.

If he does, who will he put in with Konstantinos Mavropanos? Nayef Aguerd has been a liability this season, and he was benched for our last game. Perhaps Angelo Ogbonna could return to the squad? The Italian maintained a clean sheet while playing alongside Dinos.

One thing is certain: the opposition is now targeting Kurt Zouma on a weekly basis, and Moyes must ensure that this does not continue. It’s just extremely annoying that the Scot made a rod for his own back by appointing the Frenchman as club captain six months ago.
