Man Utd star suffered biggest ‘humiliation’ possible at the hands of Ten Hag vs Fulham, says journalist.

Erik ten Hag was forced to change his unbeaten recipe this past Saturday since Rasmus Hojlund was out due to an injury.

This meant that the entire front three shifted, and despite the fact that the first-choice right winger had moved elsewhere, Ten Hag’s £85 million signing was unable to play a single minute.

Manchester United’s Omari Forson started before a number of others shifted to the right wing, including Amad Diallo in the 80th minute as a substitute.

This kept Antony on the bench until the final seconds, in a decision by Ten Hag that definitely made his most costly signing feel insulted.

Now, the Dutchman’s move, which revealed Antony’s specific position at the club, has been labelled a humiliation.

On Optus Sport, journalist Julien Laurens discussed Antony’s 55-second appearance against Fulham, describing it as a humiliating humiliation for the Brazilian.

“There’s no way back from what happened Saturday, on his birthday, which was his 24th birthday, to be humiliated like that by someone in Ten Hag who did everything he could to sign you, spend all that money on you, someone who previously worked with you and got you to play at a really good level at Ajax, and Antony was a really good player the last season before he moved to United.

“We have to be honest here; we started that young Forson, who had never started for United, in Antony’s position on the right wing, and when Forson came off early, just before the hour mark, Garnacho went from left to right, but there was still no Antony. Then Bruno Fernandes moved to the right, but there was still no Antony, followed by Amad Diallo.

“Then he brought him on in the 98th minute; he played 55 seconds and just touched the ball once. I mean, I don’t think there is a greater humiliation than this. And again, I don’t believe Antony, whose trust was already low. I just don’t think there’s a chance for him to recover from this, and his relationship with Ten Hag is probably done.”

Antony’s time at United appears to be coming to an end for a variety of reasons, all of which point to the same conclusion, despite Ten Hag describing the winger as ‘unstoppable’ ahead of the FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest.

The first reason is because he has fallen well down the pecking order at United, and he is now expected to be available for transfer this summer, according to reports.

One of the most prominent rumours surrounding United this summer is that Michael Olise is being pursued, a player who would only push Antony lower down the list at United.

With confidence a major factor for him, recent events certainly won’t help him rediscover any sort of form that tempts Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co to keep Antony if they get the option to sell.
