Will Bournemouth Get First League Win This Year At Burnley?
Our squad has been playing well recently, but we haven’t been able to convert chances into goals to increase our points total. Since beating Fulham on Boxing Day at Dean Court, AFCB has not won a league game. Our previous game against title contenders Manchester City ended in defeat, but with better finishing, our team may have pulled something out of the game.
Our next three games are against opponents in the bottom three, with one away and two at home. The first stop is Turf Moor in Lancashire, which has been Burnley’s home since 1883. The Cherries will be trying to triumph against a club that has struggled since winning the Championship last season. The game takes place on Sunday at 1 p.m. and is shown live on Sky.
Last October, Vincent Company and his Burnley team visited Dean Court, where the Cherries won 2-1. Following the weekend games, Sheffield United was in 20th place, Burnley in 19th, and Luton Town in 18th, with all three teams in the bottom three relegation places. The Cherries were in 17th position, one point ahead of the Hatters. After 26 games (Luton and AFCB 25 games), the bottom three have remained unchanged. AFCB has moved up to 14th place, with an eight-point lead over Luton Town.
Burnley lost the next three league games after that game in October, resulting in a six-game losing streak, their worst run of the season. Since their setback at Dean Court, they have won one home game, against relegation rivals Sheffield United, and it was also their best score this season, 5-0. They’ve drawn two games: 1-1 against Luton Town and 2-2 against Fulham. They lost 0-2 against Crystal Palace, 1-2 to West Ham, and 0-2 to two Merseyside teams, Everton and Liverpool. Their most recent encounter resulted in their biggest defeat this season, 0-5 against Arsenal.
They won away from home against Fulham. Drawn with Brighton. Arsenal, Wolves, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, and, most recently, Crystal Palace all suffered defeats.
Our most recent visit to Turf Moor was in February of our relegation season, under Eddie Howe, who had previously managed the Lancashire club. Burnley won 3-0, with goals in the second half from Matej Vidra, Jay Rodriguez from the penalty spot, and Dwight McNeil.
