In-form star earns first call-up since 2018 after £10m Manchester United exit.

Andreas Pereira’s form has improved since leaving Manchester United for Premier League rivals Fulham, and he might be rewarded with his first Brazil appearance since 2018.

The last and only time the midfielder represented his country, a 5-0 thrashing of El Salvador six years ago, Philippe Coutinho, Arthur Melo, and his current Fulham teammate Willian were vital members of the Selecao squad.

Brazil is a different place these days, with new head coach Dorival Junior calling up young players Endrick, Yan Couto, Andre Trindade, and Manchester City-bound Savio ahead of March friendly against England and Spain.

Andreas Pereira, meanwhile, has returned to the international fold, having been rewarded for his outstanding 18 months at Craven Cottage.

Pereira, who left Old Trafford for Fulham for £10 million in the summer of 2022, had seven assists in all competitions this season, including a magnificent display in December’s 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest, one of the best individual displays of the Premier League campaign.

The former Lazio and Valencia loanee also made a memorable return to Old Trafford last weekend, defeating Fulham 2-1 away as Erik ten Hag’s team suffered their first defeat of the year.

“Andreas Pereira is a really good player,” Ten Hag stated in February, after coaching the midfielder in PSV Eindhoven’s development system.

I’m quite thrilled for him and his progress. I think (leaving Man United) was the right decision for him because he needs to play on a regular basis. He did not do it for several years at Manchester United. Then you have to switch.

“Perhaps it is best to take a step back in order to go forward in the future. And I believe he is doing a good job, which is fairly clear. Fulham is also involved. They play in a good style.
