Dan Ashworth can transform Man Utd with two signings of ‘absolute value’.

Manchester United are reportedly in early talks with Newcastle United about the potential recruitment of Dan Ashworth, their former sporting director.

Ashworth has been placed on gardening leave after electing to resign from his role, and the Magpies are currently hesitant to let him go without compensation.

The Tyneside outfit is thought to be looking for a stunning £20 million. United will want to find a moderate ground. Otherwise, Ashworth will be unable to take up his job until 2026.

While the negotiations continue, Inter Live has revealed that Ashworth want to bring Juventus’ Gleison Bremer and Inter’s Nicolo Barella to Old Trafford.

The 52-year-old had intended to sign the Serie A duo for the Magpies, and his interest may be resurrected at United. According to reports, the couple might cost approximately €140 million (£120 million).

Bremer might leave Juventus for €60 million, while Barella could be acquired for €80 million. Ashworth believes the pair would be of ‘huge importance’ to manager Erik ten Hag.

Bremer has been one of Serie A’s best-performing centre backs this season. He has an 87% passing accuracy, averages five duels, and wins 1.6 tackles per game.

In the current season, he has 197 progressive passes, ranking second among all Serie A players. He would be an effective contender for Mason Mount next term.

Barella has contributed seven goals thus far this season. In the previous two seasons, he scored 19 and 17 goals, respectively. We would not be shocked if United moved for his services.
