23-goal striker who Newcastle reportedly want to sign has just sent message to Yankuba Minteh on Instagram.

One of Newcastle United’s transfer targets and star strikers has responded to a post by loanee Yankuba Minteh, who is having a successful stay in the Netherlands.

Newcastle declared an interest in Feyenoord striker last year, while he was in red hot form.

Minteh took to Instagram to celebrate his sixth goal of the season, and his teammate was quick to lend his support in the comments.

Newcastle target reacted to Minteh.
Since Newcastle first shown interest in the striker, Gimenez appears to have improved, as he scored his 20th league goal of the season on Sunday, alongside Minteh.

Gimenez has also scored twice in this season’s Champions League campaign, however it wasn’t quite enough to see them advance to the following round of either European competition.

Both he and Minteh appeared to have built a strong bond and might finish the season on a high note if manager Arne Slot keeps the pair in Feyenoord’s attack for the rest of the season.

Newcastle will undoubtedly keep a careful eye on their loan hero in every game, but they may also be monitoring the Mexican ahead of a busy summer transfer market.

On Instagram, Minteh wrote, “Thank you for your support today!Onward to the next game.

Newcastle United are increasingly likely to hunt for a new striker this summer, as Callum Wilson’s future at the club appears to be in doubt given his injury record.

Alexander Isak, as talented as he is, cannot lead the front line alone for an entire season and requires a quality backup to rotate with so that Eddie Howe can keep the Swede sharp as possible.

Gimenez is undoubtedly a talented striker who will have plenty of suitors in the summer if he maintains his present form, but whether or not he is willing to join Newcastle is another thing.

One thing that would help them is the friendship he has with Minteh, who might play a role under Howe next season as another right-wing option, especially if Miguel Almiron leaves.
