Newcastle United are in discussions to sign Bournemouth ace Lloyd Kelly as they aim to bolster their team this summer.

Craig Hope of The Daily Mail reported recently that Newcastle United is in talks to sign Bournemouth ace Lloyd Kelly. The Magpies are reportedly looking to sign the English centre-back this summer.

Kelly is in fantastic form at Bournemouth this season, having put in a few fine performances at the heart of their defence. The English defensive ace has made 16 appearances for the Cherries this season, scoring one goal on all fronts.

The 25-year-old has been a decent contributor when defending inside his half, with an average of 1.4 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, and 2.3 clearances per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even been accurate while distributing the ball from the back, completing 76.6% of his attempted passes in the highest flight of English football.

His current deal at the Vitality Stadium expires at the conclusion of this season, which might allow Newcastle to take him on a free transfer in the summer.

Kelly is an excellent ball tackler who can read the situation and make timely interceptions for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind removing the danger when necessary and can work his way out from behind. Kelly is primarily a center-back, but he can also play left-back if necessary.
