West Ham manager David Moyes has set a challenge for star attacker Jarrod Bowen. The Hammers manager has made it clear that he wants the England international to be the first player to score 20 Premier League goals for the East London side.

Bowen scored his 14th goal of the season after netting three in Monday night’s 4-2 triumph over Brentford. Only title contenders Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have more goals this season.

The 27-year-old is only two goals away from matching Paolo Di Canio’s club record of 16, established in the 1999-2000 season. And the former Manchester United manager feels Bowen is hungry to score goals.

“I’ve mentioned several times that I see it in Jarrod. “I think he’s so eager to score goals,” Moyes stated during a press conference. “I look into his eyes and I believe he has objectives and enjoys the feeling of being a goal scorer.

“He seems like he may be a goal scorer, and I sense someone who is going that way. If he isn’t scoring, we can shift him back because he can play both roles.

“But I just get that feeling about him that he’s hungry to score more goals.”

Moyes indicated that he had not officially set a target for Bowen, but 20 goals would be an outstanding feat for any forward at West Ham. He said, “I haven’t told him that. But there you go; I’ve probably just set him a goal.”

Bowen will have the opportunity to score more goals when West Ham meet Everton on Saturday. The Toffees are playing for the first time since their point deduction was lowered from ten to six this week.
