The Ghanaian winger believes West Ham should have defended better in their loss to SC Freiburg on Thursday night.

David Moyes’ side lost the first leg of their round of 16 contest in Germany, with substitute Michael Gregoritsch scoring the game’s only goal in the 81st minute.

Following a quick counter-attack by Freiburg, Roland Sallai’s shot from just inside the area found Gregoritsch at the back post, who tapped in from two yards away.

Kurt Zouma has received a lot of criticism for his defence in the circumstance, which included failing to cut out the ball as it came across the area.

Mohammed Kudus stated after the game that his team should have defended better.

“They scored a late goal to win it, I think we can do better defensively.” He informed the official West Ham website via Hammer News.

The London team now faces a high hill to climb as they prepare for the second leg of the tie at the London Stadium next Thursday evening.

But first they must beat Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday in order to put pressure on sixth-place Manchester United and maybe secure another Europa League position for next season.
