Everton boss outlines Jarrad Branthwaite transfer stance.

Everton manager Sean Dyche claims he has no plans to sell Cumbrian sensation Jarrad Branthwaite.

The former Carlisle United defender has been linked with a major move following his good performances in the Premier League this season.

But manager Dyche claims he wants to keep the 21-year-old Wigton star.

“We don’t want to sell any good players,” declared Everton’s manager.

“It’s as easy as that, and he’s proven to be an excellent player.

“We don’t try to sell players.

“You only sell players when absolutely necessary or when there is an issue. There is no difficulty, so I’m just hoping we don’t have to sell players.

“At the minute, we certainly don’t so we will see.”

Dyche was speaking at a press conference, as reported by The Mirror, ahead of Everton’s game at Manchester United, one of the clubs associated with the Cumbrian.

Branthwaite was on the losing side at Old Trafford on Saturday, when Everton suffered a 2-0 defeat thanks to penalties from Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Carlisle, Branthwaite’s former club, might benefit significantly from a sell-on clause if he makes a large money move. Other clubs that have been connected with the big defender include Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The Cumbrian, who led England’s Under-21s this season, has been linked with a senior Three Lions call-up. Gareth Southgate will pick his side for friendlies against Brazil and Belgium on Thursday.

Branthwaite impressed on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season and has taken his opportunity in Everton’s first team this season.

“What I saw of him, I liked,” Dyche explained.

“When the timing was right, I thought, ‘Go on then, go and enjoy it, go and have a try’.

“I didn’t have to say anything to him; simply go and play.

“He has adapted well. There are still things he has to work on, but you can’t just rush everything into a player and say ‘that’s it’.

“There are some tactical pointers, but I’m not breaking down every game and saying, ‘you’ve got to do this, you’ve got to do that.'” Allow him to naturally learn as he grows.
