NFL Free Agency begins this week, as teams throughout the league seek to enhance their rosters with the available skill pool. Some important dates for your reference:
The legal tampering period begins. Starting at 4:00 p.m. ET, teams can negotiate contracts with unrestricted free agents (UFAs). Contracts may be agreed upon at this time, but they cannot be signed until the start of the new league year.
The NFL league year begins in 2024. Contracts from the previous season expire, free-agent contracts may become official, and the 2024 trading period begins.
Deadline for exclusive rights free agent tenders.
Our goal here is to anticipate the Cleveland Browns’ free agency signings. Using previous player signee parameters used by General Manager Andrew Berry, we may effectively narrow the player pool to a chosen number of names at each position. Here are the players who I believe suit the franchise’s traditional profile.

Expected Points Added (EPA) is a football statistic that attempts to quantify the worth of individual plays in points. This is accomplished by computing the Expected Points (EP) for the down, distance, and field position situation at the start of a play and comparing it to the situation at the completion of the play. A three-yard gain on first-and-10 is very different from a three-yard gain on third-and-two, which is not frequently represented in traditional statistics. The Expected Points structure facilitates the conversion of raw gains into value.
A prospect’s athletic testing results from the combine or a pro day are compared to their size and historical findings from players in the same position. Each candidate is assigned a number from 0 to 10 based on how their RAS compares to those in the same position throughout history. Kent Lee Platte from Pro Football Network compiled and calculated the data.
