  • Arsenal name striker as key target while West Ham monitor £68m star.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, and West Ham are all preparing for the summer transfer window in the latest transfer roundup.

Arsenal reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2010, thanks to a penalty shootout victory over Porto. Last night, Arsenal custodian David Raya put any naysayers to shame by saving two of Porto’s penalty shots, sending the Emirates into ecstasy as Mikel Arteta’s team triumphed 1-1 (4-2 on penalties).

They now join Manchester City in the competition’s last eight, while Liverpool, Brighton, West Ham and Rangers will continue to compete in the UEFA Europa League later this week.

Ahead of the forthcoming second leg round of 16 matchups, here is the most recent transfer news from the Premier League…

Arsenal name their target striker.

Viktor Gyokeres, a 25-year-old Swedish forward from Sporting Lisbon, is Arsenal’s top target this summer. The former Coventry City player’s deal includes an £85 million release clause. (Football transfers).

The Swedish attacker has apparently piqued the interest of Arsenal scouts, who have been watching his performances over the last several months, and insiders close to the club have claimed that the skilled striker would be a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s style of play.

Gyokeres is reportedly the preferred choice ahead of this summer, with his adaptability distinguishing him from other potential targets such as Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney. However, the 25-year-old currently has a release clause of around £85 million after signing a five-year contract with the Primeira Liga club last summer.

Despite interest from Juventus and AC Milan, Aston Villa are the favourites to sign Atletico Madrid defender Mario Hermoso, 28, on a free transfer this summer (CalcioMercato).

Unai Emery has been moving extremely quickly in his pursuit of the Spanish international, and Villa’s proactive approach is likely to see them sign the 28-year-old star ahead of Serie A heavyweights. Hermoso has a significant amount of La Liga and Champions League experience, which may see him line up well with the likes of Pau Torres and Tyrone Mings as the Villans seek a position in next year’s UCL competition.
