The Hammers needed to add goals to their roster after struggling to avoid relegation previous season. However, Ings has failed to give the attacking support that the Hammers required.
The English striker has either missed or failed to capitalise on opportunities that have come his way.
This season, the former Liverpool striker has only scored once for the Irons in 28 outings. In his defence, he’s only made six starts.
He scored his first goal of the season in a 2-2 tie with Burnley, and his performance sparked speculation regarding his playing time.
It was suggested to Moyes to use both Michail Antonio and Ings in the team, which the Scottish manager agreed with.
Danny is aware that he has entered a game that is suitable for him. We were the dominant team, with numerous penalty box entrances and opportunities, as well as neat finishes and the ability to finish well. Everyone knows Danny Ings excels at that area of the game.
“There have been past games where we haven’t got as much of the ball or as much around the box, and I don’t see Danny giving us quite as much as we need there.
“But he did an excellent job coming on; it was our expectation that he would score goals both coming on and when he started. However, those are most likely his first goals for a while. I’m happy for him, and he was probably unlucky not to get more than the one he received.”
