Reason Why Browns Signed Fourth QB Revealed

The Cleveland Browns unexpectedly signed two quarterbacks in free agency. The reason should concern Browns supporters.

The Cleveland Browns are enjoying a busy free agency period, particularly in terms of adding offensive depth. The Browns have been particularly focused on the quarterback position, acquiring veteran Jameis Winston early in free agency to replace Joe Flacco.

After their 2023 season was nearly ruined by a lack of QB depth when Deshaun Watson went down, the Browns are desperate not to repeat the mistake. With that goal in mind, they recently signed Tyler Huntley from the Baltimore Ravens as their fourth quarterback.

Having strong quarterback depth is beneficial, but it raises concerns about the organization’s confidence in Watson and his ability to stay healthy.

Cleveland insider Mary Kay Cabot just confirmed these concerns in her latest reporting.

Watson was expected to be fully healthy to begin training camp after having surgery to fix a broken bone in his shoulder on November 21. The most recent reports indicate that he may be on a snap count to begin the season.

That is why Cleveland’s quarterbacks this season will be Winston, Huntley, and second-year signal-caller Dorian Thompson-Robinson. It remains to be seen whether all three of these backups will start the season or even play a snap outside of training camp, but the Browns are in good hands this time around if Watson isn’t ready.

The Browns are currently huge underdogs (+4000) to win the Super Bowl next season. To beat these odds, they will need to have a considerably stronger season than in 2023. Go to FanDuel Sportsbook, receive your sign-up bonus, then use these odds to back the Browns.
