‘Nonsense & absolutely rubbish! Why would Teboho Mokoena go on trials at Al Ahly?’ Agent refutes reports about Mamelodi Sundowns star

Teboho Mokoena, Bafana Bafana

According to his agent, Glyn Binkin, reports that Al Ahly is interested in Mamelodi Sundowns player Teboho Mokoena are ‘false and have no reality’.

Mokoena was Bafana Bafana’s motor at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals, helping the team finish third.

The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder appeared in all seven matches for South Africa, scoring twice and assisting once.

Following his performances, Mokoena was nominated to the tournament’s best XI, with his captain Ronwen Williams, who was the competition’s top goalkeeper.

It explains why the 2022/23 Premier Soccer League Footballer of the Season has been linked with a transfer away from Sundowns.

The aggressive midfielder has been linked with Premier League club AFC Bournemouth and, most recently, Al Ahly.

However, his agent Binkin has dismissed the allegations tying him to Al Ahly, particularly when a letter inviting Mokoena to trials surfaced on social media.

“It’s all nonsense and trash! Nothing in this article is true. Nothing at all; I’d be astonished if it came from Al Ahly, and with all due respect, why would Teboho Mokoena go on trial anywhere? “It is fake news with no substance,” the respected agency told iDiski Times.

Hugo Broos, Bafana Bafana’s coach, has said that several of the players have sparked substantial interest from abroad following their Afcon performances.

However, Sundowns would not allow their stars to leave, with coach Rhulani Mokwena saying that none of his key players will be sold, implying that Mokoena’s chances of leaving are nearly non-existent.
