Ex-Orlando Pirates coach: “Kaizer Chiefs know where to find me”.
A former Orlando Pirates coach has sent a ‘come and get me’ plea to archrivals Kaizer Chiefs, who are still looking for a new manager.
Kaizer Chiefs are moving on with their plans to hire a new coach ahead of the 2019 season.
Arthur Zwane was in charge of Chiefs previous season before being replaced by Molefi Ntseki for the current season.
To the bulk of Chiefs fans, Ntseki was already an unpopular choice with no track record. Before taking over the first-team, he had never led a senior professional squad. He did, however, coach Bafana Bafana after Stuart Baxter, until being fired for failing to qualify for the AFCON 2021. The two reconnected as part of a new structure at Amakhosi, with him in charge of football development.
Ntseki did not survive long as Chiefs coach, being fired before the season’s halfway point. This occurred after an underwhelming start to the season, in which they were also eliminated from two cup competitions. After being removed of his duties, the club appointed Johnson on an interim basis. Coincidentally, Cavin Johnson began his career with the club in a developmental role before being promoted to the senior ranks.
Johnson was in contention after the Chiefs won three of their last four games in 2024. However, according to recent reports, the club is once again looking for other prospects. Roger de Sa, the previous coach of the Orlando Pirates, does not appear to be on that list.
According to KickOff.com, De Sa has sent a ‘come and get me plea’ to the Chiefs.
“I have never sent a CV to anyone, nor have I sought for any jobs. They (the Chiefs) know where I am. If they were interested, they’d contact me. Previously, clubs would invite me and inform me of their plans before allowing me to make a decision. Everyone knows I am accessible. I’m sitting at home. There’s no urgency for me; I’m sitting at home considering my alternatives. I’ve got a few contacts from various places, and I’ll make a selection. I am free; I am currently employed by my wife, and she is the boss.” Said De Sa.
