Former Player Has Trade Idea for Steelers.

Pittsburgh — The Pittsburgh Steelers are apparently “doing their due diligence” on the wide receiver trade market, which has sparked widespread interest in acquiring San Francisco 49ers star Brandon Aiyuk. While landing the All-Pro will most likely necessitate a significant trade, one former player has a notion of how it can be done. During a recent episode of his podcast, former Steelers lineman Ramon Foster mentioned dealing a current lineman for Aiyuk.

“Dan [Moore Jr.] can be used as draft capital,” Foster explained. “If you’re looking at San Francisco, he could be shipped there in a package. Trent Williams, how much longer can you go? He plays left tackle in their style of attack, getting the ball in and out as quickly as they do. Dan is a big athlete. I’m petitioning for a guy to move to another squad, and while I like Dan, it makes sense. If you say, ‘We’ll send you a four and Dan Moore.’ If he doesn’t want to play properly, you assign him to a club with an expired left tackle.”

The 49ers reportedly requested a first-round selection (No. 17) and wide receiver Zay Jones from the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for Aiyuk this offseason.

The Steelers have the 20th pick, but if they give up their starting left tackle, they might be able to make it work. To replace Moore, the team might turn to second-year player Spencer Anderson, who has experience at all five offensive line positions. The seventh-round pick impressed enough throughout training camp to reach the 53-man roster. With Broderick Jones returning to the left side, that could be an option for Pittsburgh.
