Dr Rajpal Brar stated that West Ham’s physios will continue to monitor Lucas Paqueta in order to avoid an injury setback.
The injury expert has responded to David Moyes’ statements about pulling the Brazilian against Freiburg on March 14, despite his desire to stay.
The Hammers easily won the game 5-0 and advanced to the next round of the UEFA Europa League.
In an exclusive interview with West Ham Zone, Brar, a Physical Therapist and Sports Scientist, said:
“This is standard practice for professional football, particularly with crucial players – managing individuals and risk/reward.
“An injury is never a good indication, but this didn’t appear to be serious, and he played the most of the next game.
West Ham must be cautious regarding Paqueta’s injury status.
The Brazilian has only recently returned from an injury setback, and no one will want him to be unavailable again.
He has been a crucial player for Moyes’ team this season, and despite being a midfielder, he has played on the left flank several times.
The 26-year-old has also scored three goals and provided five assists for the Hammers in the final third.
In other West Ham news, Michael Owen has been steaming over a recent controversy in London involving the Hammers.
