Adam Silver hints at major changes to All-Star game that could impact the Nuggets.
In an interview with CNN, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver was asked about the NBA All-Star Game and how it may be improved. Silver recognized that the entire event needs to be tweaked, even acknowledging that it may never be a competitive game again.
This year’s game was the most scoring ever, with the East squad scoring more over 200 points in a fight with low enthusiasm – even by All-Star standards. Silver looked and sounded dissatisfied after the loss.
Apparently Silver and others had been imploring the players to buy in and take the game more seriously, a proposal that was blatantly ignored based on the play on the court.
Perhaps the most intriguing aspect of Silver’s talk was his mention of a USA against. World format. This is something that has been discussed in NBA circles for some years and has recently garnered popularity.
The top four candidates for the NBA MVP award are all current international players, with Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets’ Serbian wonder, clearly leading the way. This approach would undoubtedly add intrigue to the tournament and possibly more intrinsic motivation for the players.
