Despite David Moyes’ unclear future, with his present contract likely to expire at the end of the season, West Ham United are apparently looking for potential new signings for whoever will be in charge next season.

West Ham’s transfer news
Steve Cooper and Graham Potter have previously been linked with the West Ham position if Moyes fails to sign a new contract this summer. Potter has been unemployed since his dismissal at Chelsea last season. However, he may now be able to return to Premier League manager with the Blues’ London rivals.

Moyes may have his critics, but he will undoubtedly need to be replaced at London Stadium. The Scot would leave as Europa Conference League champion and as the manager who led West Ham from relegation to a place in the Premier League’s top half.

While potentially looking for their next manager, the Hammers have maintained an eye on potential incomings, and appear to have turned their focus to Nottingham Forest, who need to balance their accounts to avoid a second Financial Fair Play charge. The Hammers had already been linked with Morgan Gibbs-White and, more recently, Taiwo Awoniyi.

According to Soccer Net, West Ham has emerged as a prospective destination for Awoniyi, as the London club considers replacing the ageing Michail Antonio ahead of next season. The Forest striker is well-known among the London Stadium’s defense, having scored in both games against them this season.

“Excellent” Awoniyi is better than Antonio.
Antonio was once the focal point of West Ham’s offense, but that time has passed. The 33-year-old is beginning to show his age, which presents Moyes with a dilemma that he may need to tackle if he remains at the club this summer. In light of that issue, Awoniyi makes great sense when it comes

It’s also worth mentioning that Awoniyi scored 10 goals in his Premier League debut last season, so former manager Steve Cooper’s praise is unsurprising. Cooper previously stated to the media:

You always want your number nine to score goals. I’ve mentioned before that we missed him a lot when he was injured and missed three months. He was doing well before it, so getting him back into the form he has showed has been fantastic.”

With that stated, West Ham may be aiming to gain from Awoniyi’s goal-scoring ability rather than the team on the receiving end next season, making this one to monitor alongside Gibbs-White.
