Michail Antonio defends Mikel Arteta

After turning this squad around over the last several years, the manager of Arsenal is loved by his own followers, but it’s safe to say that opposing supporters aren’t as enthused.

There are many who criticise Arteta for being excessively flamboyant on the touchline, overly extravagant in his celebrations, and for playing unfavourable football during the weekend.

On Easter Sunday, Arsenal and Manchester City drew 0-0, and following the match, many have blamed Arteta, saying that his approach to the game was completely incorrect.

Michail Antonio, however, has spoken out in favour of Arteta, saying on the Footballer’s Football Podcast that he’s been taken aback by some of the vitriol he’s been receiving lately.

“A lot of people have been complaining about this game, saying it’s so bad, what was Arteta thinking? Blah, blah, blah. He was a genius, I don’t care what anyone says, he has Man City away. Every time you go there around this time, Man City beat everyone two or three, and he’s gone there and knows he only needs a point. It’s amazing how many people have been complaining about that,” Antonio remarked.
