Patrick Maswanganyi and Makhehlene Makhaula of the Orlando Pirates will not be traveling to Cape Town for the team’s Wednesday matchup against Cape Town City.
This week’s suspensions for Patrick Maswanganyi and Makhehlene Makhaula prevent them from playing when the Sea Robbers go to Green Point to play Cape Town City. On Wednesday, May 1, the Citizens and Sea Robbers will kick off at 15:00.
Over their last four games in all competitions, Jose Riveiro’s team has scored 16 goals. Maswanganyi has made 23 league appearances this season, tallying five goals and five assists. In 32 games across all competitions, he has 10 assists and nine goals. That is an incredible comeback for the 26-year-old. The Pirates front four now has an attacking midfielder who is more direct and dynamic. Kabelo Dlamini and c are on either side of him. Pirates might use Monnapule Saleng, who started against Royal AM, or the healthy-again Evidence Makgopa in his place versus City. Given Makhaula’s suspension, Jose Riveiro ought to continue working with Thalente Mbatha and, if Timm is well enough, bring Miguel Timm into the engine room with him.
Orlando Pirates have scored 16 goals in their previous four games in all competitions, and they are starting to click at the perfect moment. Maintaining a lead over the form Stellenbosch in the battle for a top-two finish requires a victory over City. With 13 goals this season in the league, Iqraam Rayners is leading the attack for Stellies.
