Everton express interest in Leander Dendoncker
Everton will reportedly look to sign 29-year-old Belgian utility man Leander Dendoncker from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Leander Dendoncker is the subject of interest from Everton. The Toffees have registered their interest in the 29-year-old Aston Villa utility man. And the Villans are ready to listen to offers to sell him in the summer transfer window.
Leander Dendoncker and his recent struggles
Leander Dendoncker has seen his progress come to a grinding halt in the last few years. Primarily a holding midfielder, he has excelled as a box-to-box midfielder and a centre-back during his career at the club and international levels. However, after initially losing his spot at Wolverhampton Wanderers, he has struggled at Aston Villa and Napoli.
Aston Villa signed Dendoncker from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2022. However, the 29-year-old utility man could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Villa Park in his debut season. So, the West Midlands outfit loaned him out to Napoli in January 2024 until the end of the 2023/24 season.
However, the Belgian international has barely featured for the Partenopei, managing only 21 minutes of game time across three appearances. So, it is hardly surprising that Napoli will not complete a permanent move in the summer transfer window. However, Aston Villa will listen to offers for the utility man, with Everton keen on signing him.

Everton’s interest in Leander Dendoncker is understandable. The Toffees are in a spot of bother over Amadou Onana’s long-term future, with James Garner also attracting interest from high-profile clubs. As for Onana, well-known outfits like Arsenal and Newcastle United are keen on signing him.
So, it behoves Everton to delve into the market for a versatile midfielder, with Dendoncker emerging as a viable target. And the Toffees have expressed their interest in the 29-year-old Belgian utility man ahead of the summer transfer window.
