Chelsea ‘set to make bid for £60m-rated Crystal Palace star Michael Olise’ regardless of who they appoint as manager to replace Mauricio Pochettino
Chelsea are set to make an offer for Michael Olise this summer regardless of who they appoint as their new manager.
As reported by The Mirror, the Blues want to sign Crystal Palace star Olise regardless of who they appoint as their new manager.
Olise, who mainly plays on the right wing but can also be used as an attacking midfielder, was hugely impressive for Palace this season as he scored ten goals and provided six assists in 19 Premier League appearances.
Chelsea are on the lookout for a new manager following Mauricio Pochettino‘s departure from the club by mutual agreement.
Under the guidance of Todd Boehly, Chelsea are aiming to be heavily active in the transfer market again, which would allow the new manager to focus on preparing the team.
Chelsea are likely to face a significant amount of competition for Olise, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle and Liverpool all interested in signing him.
The fact that Arsenal and Liverpool can offer Olise Champions League football next season could be tempting for the 22-year-old.
Olise was previously at Chelsea’s academy from 2009 until 2016 but it remains to be seen if he will return to the club.
With his trickery, Olise has frequently impressed for Palace, where he has three years remaining on the deal that he signed last summer.
Palace tied Olise to a new deal last year after Chelsea made a £35million bid which they believed triggered his release clause in his previous contract.
Chelsea finished in sixth place following another chaotic season but there is likely to be much upheaval again after Pochettino’s departure.
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna is amongst the managers being considered by Chelsea, with Leicester boss Enzo Maresca also in contention along with Brentford’s Thomas Frank.
Another candidate is also under consideration, with Chelsea having started the process of conducting formal interviews.
