Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bolster their midfield areas in the summer window, and they have set sight on Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.
According to a report from The Northern Echo, Spurs have also included Boro defender Rav van den Berg in their list of transfer targets this summer.
Spurs are keen to recruit promising youngsters who can develop into quality players as part of their new transfer strategy. The north London club have long held an interest in Hackney and have “extensively” scouted him since he made his breakthrough in 2022-23.
Ange Postecoglou is likely to get rid of midfielders like Bryan Gill, Giovani Lo Celso, and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg, and there could be room for new additions. Spurs wanted Hackney in the January window but the deal didn’t materialise. They still retain an interest in the midfielder despite the fact he missed much of the second half of the season through injury.

Massive summer transfer window for Tottenham
Postecoglou has made it very clear that he will make changes to the squad after Spurs finished fifth in the Premier League last season. They will be competing for the Europa League next season and a bigger squad is required.
It is indeed a good strategy to develop young talents with great potential. Spurs do have a fantastic squad with loads of experienced senior players, so if they can execute their plans properly, there will be a nice blend of youth and experience.

Spurs are also looking to bolster their defence this summer, and they have been linked with Torino centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno this month. They are also looking to add depth in their attacking areas and have shown interest in Dominic Solanke and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Boro are not looking to sell the duo, but they could change their transfer stance if Spurs come up with a really tempting offer.
