Sundowns to inflict double transfer pain on Orlando Pirates?
OUCH! Mamelodi Sundowns could be about to pull off some smart but petty transfer business that will hurt Orlando Pirates’ plans big time!
Mamelodi Sundowns could be ready to rub salt into the wounds of Orlando Pirates in two transfer saga’s.
This publication reported that it was Kaizer Chiefs who first put their hand up, showing interest in Johannes. It was not too long then when reports would emerge that Pirates too, were hot on heels. Then in what seemed like an anti-climax, it was then reported that the player would be moving to neither, and had signed a contract renewal at SuperSport.
PIRATES, SUNDOWNS AND CHIEFS INTERESTED IN JOHANNES
But then two weeks ago, it was reported that Johannes had snubbed Chiefs and was set to move to Pirates. Hunt, however, was quick to dismiss those rumours as reported by this publication on last week Saturday.
Then last Thursday, it was established that Pirates have not wrapped up the deal for Johannes at all. New reports emerged that Chiefs were still in the hunt. Furthermore, it was revealed that Sundowns had since joined the race. It was also reported that they were stepping up their efforts to beat their rivals to his signature.
Last week, it was also reported that Pirates had turned their attention to Sundowns striker Ighodaro to boost their strike force. But now according to Soccer-Laduma, Masandawana are looking to involve the Nigerian striker in a swap deal for Johannes’ services.
“Mamelodi Sundowns could be looking to use Etiosa Ighodaro in a potential swap deal-plus-cash to acquire the services of defender Kegan Johannes from SuperSport United, the Siya crew has been informed. It is understood the Brazilians are currently favourites to land the signature of the 23-year-old given their financial muscle. They also have two players on loan at SuperSport they can use as leverage” wrote the publication.
