As reported by Alan Nixon, Doncaster and Exeter have both joined Shrewsbury in the race to sign him on loan, with a fourth unknown club also interested.

It was reported last week, that Salop were the first to inquire as to the possibility of signing the keeper for next season. With manager Paul Hurst all but confirming the departure of their reliable number one, Marko Marosi, the Shropshire-based side is desperate to sign a new keeper with backup Harry Burgoyne also leaving.

Meanwhile, Exeter City and Doncaster Rovers will be on the lookout as well, following Viljami Sinisalo and Thimothée Lo-Tutala both returning to their parent clubs.

As current Palace number one Dean Henderson spent a season under Paul Hurst at Shrewsbury, Salop may feel they are best placed out of all the clubs to entice Whitworth to the West Midlands.

Wherever he goes, the 20-year-old will likely have free rein over his decision and the League One sides may be more enticing than Doncaster.
