Newcastle United are ready to step up their efforts for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise as they look to bolster their squad in the summer.
In a recent report, The Daily Mail claimed that Newcastle United are ready to step up their efforts for Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. It has been stated that the Magpies are eager to secure the services of the French winger this summer.
Olise’s Impressive Form In Premier League Football
Olise has enjoyed an impressive season at the London club as he has put in a run of eye-catching displays for them in the final third. However, he has missed a lot of games due to a serious hamstring injury. The French talent has appeared in 19 matches for the Eagles during this campaign, scoring ten goals and picking up six assists in all competitions.
The 22-year-old has proven his worth in the opponent’s half by averaging 3.0 shots, 1.9 key passes and 2.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He has even distributed possession relatively well after completing 83.1% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).
Olise’s current deal at Selhurst Park will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for the Magpies to land him on the cheap at the end of this season.
Is Olise A Good Choice For Newcastle United?
Olise can strike the ball purely and with venom from long range and has got the vision to create a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third. He is a decent dribbler with the ball at his feet and has added plenty of goals and assists to his game during this Premier League campaign. Olise is primarily a right-winger but can also function in the number ten position if needed.
However, there are some concerns over the Frenchman’s recent injury history. Still, there is no denying that he has the skill set to be a success story at Newcastle United in the long run. At 22, Olise has got a bright future ahead which makes him a great choice for the Magpies to pursue in the upcoming transfer period.
The French sensation is more than capable of helping the Tyneside club challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League next season. Therefore, Howe would be wise to go all out to lure Olise to St. James’ Park when the transfer window commences later this year.
